============================================
ADVANCED ZOMBIE SURVIVAL LAWNMOWER SIMULATOR
============================================
A GAME OF FAST ACTION AND QUESTIONABLE PRIORITIES
Mow the grass, avoid being chomped by the zombies.
Don't mow the plants & flowers - destroy too many and you'll be in trouble!
Watch your footing near water to avoid electrocution or an unscheduled bath.
Keep an eye on your mower's temparature gauge - if it gets too hot, wait for it to cool down before continuing... or you'll be toast!
CONTROLS
========
Keyboard, Sincair joystick, Cursor joystick or Kempston joystick.
Keys:
Q - Up
A - Down
O - Left
P - Right
M - Mow (FIRE on joystick)
ENTER - pause game
X - quit (while paused)
LEVEL EDITOR
============
The game's level editor can be accessed via the title screen, or the Game Over screen after editing.
Use the joystick (JOY) to move the cursor.
JOY + FIRE adjusts the area size.
JOY + SHIFT chooses the map tile.
The top row of map tiles are grass, getting progessively "grassier" to the right hand side.
The other main tiles to be aware of are at the start of the 2nd row:
- dry land / road (ok)
- water (deadly)
- gravel (causes overheating)
- soil (causes overheating)
SPACE fills the area with the selected map tile.
C copies the area contents to the clipboard
P pastes the contents of the clipboard (if it will fit!)
JOY UP/DOWN + L selects the level. Copied data can be pasted into other levels
JOY UP/DOWN + Z sets the maximum number of zombies on screen
JOY UP/DOWN + T sets the spawn time; greater values means more time between each zombie spawning.
The speed at which zombies move can be restricted with
JOY UP/DOWN + S = slowest speed
JOY UP/DOWN + F = fastest speed
Speed 1 = slow & shambling, Romero-esque
Speed 8 = fast & menacing, 28 Days Later style!
Levels can be saved to and loaded from cassette as follows:
2 Save current level
3 Save all levels
4 Load single level
5 Load all levels
1 sets the player's start position
H shows the help screen (list of controls)
X exits the editor and starts the game at the current level for testing
Hint: to quickly get back to the editor, press ENTER (pause) then X (quit) then L (editor)
Note that the top & bottom rows and far left-hand & right-hand columns act as a border and are inaccessible to the player and not shown during gameplay.
You can place solid objects or water in this border to prevent zombies from spawning there.
At present, there are a few unused map tiles (yellow X on red background) which should not be used as they may become something in a later release!
STILL TO COME...
================
Power ups
High score table
128K music (though probably drunken sounding as stack-based routines prevent the use of interrupts)
A few bug fixes
A bit more presentational pizzazz
