Deep Dungeon Adventureis a turn-based exploration game originally developed for MSX by Trilobyte and later ported for the ZX Spectrum with support for MB03+ and eLeMeNt ZX devices. The game sets the player on a quest to retrieve a stolen amulet guarded by creatures in a dungeon. The amulet displays the royal crest and demonstrates the player's hereditary right to the throne.
The player navigates multiple floors of a dungeon in search of stairways leading downward, ultimately reaching the amulet at the bottom. Each floor contains doors, treasure chests that yield gold, potions, and items to increase attack and defense capabilities. Enemies such as bats, goblins, dragons, and ghosts inhabit the dungeon, each with unique attack behaviors. Players attack enemies by moving onto their positions.
The game uses a seed system to generate dungeon layouts, allowing players to replay or share specific mazes using a 3-digit code, with difficulty settings of EASY, NORMAL, or HARD. The port features enhanced graphics (HGFX planar), real-time mode, save/load functionality, SCC/AY music and sound, and random generator-based floor layouts.
Musical arrangements for SCC are included and effects are played through AY. Sound, graphics, and gameplay are adapted for ZX Spectrum with special thanks to contributors in the MSX scene. Deep Dungeon Adventure is freeware.
